The book by Jacqueline A. Oberst
Looks Profitable
Finding Clarity and Control in the Numbers That Run Your Business
Jacqueline wrote Looks Profitable for owners of established businesses, typically with $250,000 to $5 million in revenue, who run a real company with employees, vendors, and payroll and still cannot say with confidence whether last quarter made money.
The book introduces the Missing Middle. A bookkeeper records the transactions and a CPA files the taxes, and in most small businesses nobody with financial training explains what the numbers mean or what to do next. Looks Profitable fills that gap with a seven-step method that treats the books as a control panel for the decisions ahead.
Inside the book
- A 30-minute exercise that shows where the business stands today
- Why a profitable Profit and Loss statement can sit beside a shrinking bank balance
- A restaurant case in which $51,000 of overpaid sales tax and $18,000 of unused tip credits were recovered
- The FSE Method (funding, strategy, execution) for making decisions from the numbers
- A Monday morning report that keeps the owner current in minutes
Available in paperback, ebook, and audiobook.
